Helping Ukrainian Refugees
Barnardo’s is providing support to Ukrainian refugee families and children
Since the crisis began, millions of Ukrainian people have fled their homes in search of safety for themselves and their families, with many arriving in the U.K.
Barnardo’s recognises that the affected children and adults need continued support during this time of stress and uncertainty, so they can navigate the new challenges they now face as refugees. We work directly with displaced children and families to support their recovery from the crushing mental health impact of this crisis, as well as providing practical help so they can get established in the U.K.
Following a discussion with the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, we have set up a dedicated helpline for anyone needing support after fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.
We offer support and guidance for:
- Therapy with a qualified psychotherapist, available over the phone or online
- Advice on accessing housing, healthcare services, education, and employment
- Practical support to access to digital devices so family members can stay in connected, as well as toys and essential items for children and babies
All services provide access to a Ukrainian or Russian interpreter.
The Helpline is open:
- Monday – Friday 10.00am-8.00pm
- Saturday 10.00am-3.00pm
