Ready to rock the festival scene with killer outfits that won't break the bank or the planet? Let's explore how charity shopping, creative upcycling, and the best outfit secrets can elevate your festival style!
Embrace Charity Shopping and Upcycling
First up, let's talk charity shopping. Our stores are treasure troves for festival outfits. From the full fit to a basic item you can amend to make it totally unique. Iron-on diamante transfers to baby tees and vests a la Destiny’s Child at the Y2K VMAs, tie-dye your Plain White Tees, or add fringe trim to a basic dress to refresh an item destined for the rag pile.
Our Re-Fashion Hub is a haven for pre-loved clothing, and our colleagues and volunteers have been crafting their own standout festival looks. Why buy new when you can revamp the old?
When you buy from our charity shops, not only do you save money, but you also support a great cause and reduce waste. Win-win!
The Eco Impact of Festival Fashion
Did you know that single-use festival outfits contribute significantly to environmental waste? In 2019, we conducted a study with Census Wide which found that Brits spend £700m a year on throwaway fashion for festivals and holidays, with many items only being worn once. One in four people surveyed said they’d be embarrassed to be an outfit repeater. Isn’t that shocking?
The most sustainable outfit is the one you already own! Don’t be scared to re-wear, repair, and re-work the items already in your wardrobe.
So, get crafty! Grab some fabric paint, sequins, or even old scarves to embellish your festival gear. Patchwork denim, fringe tops, and custom accessories can all be made from items you already own or find at the charity shop. Not only will you look amazing, but your unique style will also spark conversation and inspire others to think sustainably.
Happy crafting and see you on the festival circuit! ✨
