It’s never been easier to send your pre-loved items to Barnardo’s! Order a free postal donation bag, fill it with your good-quality pre-loved items, and send it back for free. Each charity bag donated helps Barnardo’s provide vital support for children and families across the UK. 

HOW IT WORKS 
 
Search your home for the things you no longer need. The better the quality, the more you’ll help to raise. 

Pack them up in your charity postal bag. Fill it up with as many items as you can, just make sure it weighs less than 10kg.

Donation Bag FAQs

We recommend sending lightweight, non-fragile items that are easy to pack and post. Great examples include: 

  • Clothing, shoes and accessories 

  • Jewellery and watches 

  • Books, DVDs, and small toys 

  • Small homeware items (e.g.  photo frames, ) 

Please avoid sending anything sharp, bulky, or breakable, such as glass, ceramics, or large electronics in postal donation bags.

We recommend keeping your donation bag under 10kg to make sure it can be safely posted.

Yes! We want to make it easy and accessible for you to donate items to Barnardo’s so we want to give you an extra option. Our stores are always looking for items to stock the shelves with, you can find your nearest Barnardo’s store here – we have over 550 stores across the UK! 

Once your generous donation reaches our warehouse, our team will carefully unpack and sort your items and decide on the best way to maximise the value of your donation. This might be via our online eBay store or in one of our 550 stores across the UK. Once sold, the proceeds from the sale of your donation will help fund services that improve the lives of children and young people. 

Right now, 1 in 4 children in the UK live in poverty because too many families are struggling to make ends meet.  

Thanks to donations like yours, we can make sure families get the support they need—whether it's helping them put food on the table, keeping the electricity on so they can stay warm, or organising special days out for them to enjoy as a family.

If you need to use your own box for a larger item, and / or would prefer to print your own shipping label, you can do this by requesting a return via our Royal Mail portal.  

Please make sure that breakable items are well protected within the box and adhere to the maximum size and weight restrictions.
