Turning WEEE Waste into Rage Rooms!

Barnardo’s teams up with Rage Room Leamington to give new life to WEEE waste.

At Barnardo’s, we often receive electrical donations that unfortunately fail PAT testing which means we are unable to resell them in our charity shops.

The responsible disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is notoriously expensive, but we have been working with local businesses to reuse WEEE waste in rage rooms, an activity that has become increasingly popular in recent years.

We have partnered with Lucy at Rage Room Leamington Spa who has kindly agreed to collect our broken household electricals free of charge. Items such as TVs, laptops, electrical kitchen appliances and other household items, are then set up in the rooms before guests enter and release their rage.

All these items that would otherwise have been sent straight as waste, get one more chance to be reused before inevitably becoming waste. Once the items have been used in the rage rooms, the waste is then disposed of responsibly using local waste and recycling services.

Not only does this partnership provide a sustainable option for Lucy to acquire materials for the rage rooms, but it also helps reduce Barnardo’s waste costs meaning that the money can be better spent elsewhere, better supporting our service users.
